Are we our brother’s keeper?… Hmmm…What about the body? What about Christians in other countries?

We see in the world many attacks on fellow Christians, who we must remember are part of the same body of Christ as us….but some Christians are hurting and die needlessly. Like those the Lord said who slept early. (1Cor11:30) You see sometimes “we” could change, or do something to prevent it, and continue on here serving the Lord. Sometimes we have the choice. ( Philippians 1:23-25 ) As Paul seems to have thought, having almost lost all hope…but deciding it better for their sakes to remain and help them. Who sent him help in his distress….Hmmmm…
And sometimes one nation’s Christians do not do all they can to assist other nations Christians as they should, as it is just a different location in the body….If “we” are of one body…then we should care for “all” our body, and keep it strong and more useable… As Christ does the church.
( Eph 5:29 )- “After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church–”
Or we will be rendered limited in our scope to reach out more effectively to the lost…which is part of the devil’s plan since the beginning.
And sometimes “we” do not go assist when a brother falls attacked by satan, to raise them up again…instead just accepting what we see as final. As Paul taught by this example to the church, when he did not accept circumstances, and went and raised up the boy who fell from high window, restoring him to the body. (Acts 20:9-11 )
Many would have accepted those circumstances and said sadly, “God took him home, it was his time.” Not Paul. Because we are all one body… And Christ works through “us” on this side of the cross! So “we” are to equip, strengthen and protect the body we have now, as much as is in our power to do so…and not just focus on seeking to add more to the body daily. Because many Christians are under attack in the world, and need all the assistance they can get, anyway they can get it.
Not everyone is called to be a martyr…but all are called to die to self.
Is there something …anything “you” could do here to help a brother somewhere else under attack? Yes we must pray ! And sometimes, also make a phone call perhaps? Or send a email to your congressman?
Because sometimes the right hand, must help, and care for the left arm, so it does not “needlessly” get amputated from the body, simply because of a lack of attention to the circumstances affecting it. Think on that.
The Lord has called “us” to help His body “and” also reach out to the unsaved. ( Prov1:24 )-“I called you so often, but you wouldn’t come. I reached out to you, but you paid no attention.” And the voice of the attacked comes to us in those words as well…because WE are the body of Christ. The bible says when YOU have done “all”…then you can stand.( Eph 6:13 ) Have you done all yet? Have you done anything?… to try and help those Christians under attack in other countries?…
Notice the armour is to be PUT ON by “us” over the whole body “for protection”, and “also” to allow the body “to fight” victoriously over the enemy. We “believers” in Christ are one body…So ask what you can do here now, and find something for your hand to do for the Lord… because i believe some die needlessly. … Have you done all for them? Have you thought about the power you do have from your “current” position of safety here in this nation? Well think on it. Maybe you were called for such a time as this. ~ Rev Ernie Harpster

Saturday or Sunday does it matter?………… Just make it in Spirit and Truth!

Saturday or Sunday does it matter? Ok.. So I was asked strongly ( I am being nice) to give my personal, but “if possible” biblical opinion of a born again Christians being required to “worship” on Saturday or Sunday. Which in my opinion “we” are not required to worship on Sunday either! But I was told “biblically” we must on Saturday, as we are to now fulfil the law because of Jesus. But did the bible really say or show this to us “Christians”?
My answer was .” we” as Christians only live on this side of the cross… not the other side.
So now having prayed and read and studied some more I will answer more biblically.. I do not like to “argue” but like Paul did, I will debate my scriptural position as I believe we are only “alive” in Christ on this side of the cross. And the law on other side of the cross killed us, as law only gave strength to sin.(1Cor15:56)

But I was told Paul taught on Saturday in the synagogues… And did so after the cross. And so I found plenty of info “scripturally” in bible, and online, some that I have quoted here too, regarding this subject which agrees with Paul’s teaching in Romans, Galatians, Hebrews, and this in (Ephesians 2:13) that we are “not under law or ordinances”, but are as Paul clearly taught under grace through faith, while “in” the resurrected Jesus Christ. Saying that is how we got saved.(Eph 2:8-9). So then how does Paul teach this and seemingly do opposite by going to synagogue on Saturday ? And remember Paul had also confronted Peter in Acts for going back to other side of cross in “life style”,when Peter was saved.(Gal2:2-16).

But it is also true Paul did go to synagogues and teach so….” What we do have, are frequent examples of Paul preaching to non-Christian Jews in THEIR synagogue on THEIR Sabbath day, that “they” are lost without Jesus! Should this surprise us? (Jesus did the same thing) Do Sabbatarian Pastors “keep Sunday” if they preach in a Christian church on the first day of the week?” …Of all the many passages…” None of these passages, or any other in the New Testament, ever speak of Christians worshipping on the Sabbath day.

If Paul preaching to Jews on the Sabbath day proves he kept the Sabbath, then it also proves Paul kept synagogue worship as well!” …..(As was required by law.) If Paul “kept the Sabbath” because he preached Christ to non-Christian Jews on THEIR Sabbath day in THEIR synagogue: then Paul also kept all the other ceremonial laws that the non-Christian Jews practised while he was there as well… So.. “then a Seventh-day Adventist pastor “keeps Monday” just because he preaches to Muslims in their Mosque on Monday that they are lost without Christ!

And…Then a Seventh-day Adventist pastor “keeps Sunday” just because he preaches to a church of “Sunday keeping” Christians on “Sunday” that they are breaking the Sabbath law.
“What proves too much proves nothing at all! ” as I learned…. And as we see in (Acts19:8-9)

Paul removed himself from going anymore to a synagogue for two years teaching in school of Tyrannus daily!
But we also see Paul taught daily, but teaching does not say keeping Sabbath either

And just because the very first preaching of the Gospel occurred on the day of Pentecost, does not mean a Christian must keep Pentecost! (Acts 2:1-38)
Even though Paul also rushed to get back to Jerusalem “on” Pentecost: (Acts 20:16)
and Pentecost always fell on a Sunday! ( Lev23:15-21 ) And as commanded to worship on it. “A holy convocation.”.
Does this mean he was keeping Pentecost feast?
No! It provided him a great opportunity to teach on Jesus grace!

No where after the resurrection is “keeping the Sabbath according to the commandment” said.”.. Although many things are repeatedly said, and reinforced..but not that.
I know some have said, But “In (Acts 18:4), Paul’s custom was to worship on the Sabbath with Greeks. This proves it was not a Jewish worship service but a Christ centered worship service separate from the Jewish synagogue worship. The Greeks were uncircumcised and did not keep the Sabbath or the Law of Moses ” … “Notice the word “persuade”. Paul’s work here was 100% evangelism. There is no example of Paul ever meeting on the Sabbath day for worship.

Notice also that these were “unbelievers” in Christ before Paul preached to them. Yes they believed in the Jewish system, but the Bible says in (Acts 14:1), that they BECAME believers proving Paul’s work there was evangelism not worship.
The Greeks were Jewish converts to Judaism known as “proselytes.” ..So they were not pagan Greeks but Greeks who “practised” the law of Moses and kept the Sabbath. just as if the Greek person was a native Hebrew. The only Greeks that were in the synagogue would be these “proselytes”. These Greeks certainly were “not Christians”.
(Acts 13:43) “Now when the meeting of the synagogue had broken up, many of the Jews and of the God-fearing proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, were urging them to continue in the grace of God.”
(Acts 14:1) “In Iconium they entered the synagogue of the Jews together, and spoke in such a manner that a large number of people believed, both of Jews and of Greeks.”
(Acts 17:4) “And some of them were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, along with a large number of the God-fearing Greeks and a number of the leading women.
(Acts 18:4) “And he was reasoning in the synagogue every Sabbath and trying to persuade Jews and Greeks.”..

And some have also said  “Paul kept the Law”, therefore the Sabbath is still binding!” (Additional Sabbatarian proof texts: Acts 21:20-28; Acts 24:14; Acts 26:22; Rom 3:31)…Please look closely here…

” (Acts 21:20-28) “And when they heard it they began glorifying God; and they said to him, “You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed, and they are all zealous for the Law; and they have been told about you, that you are teaching all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses,… “telling them not to circumcise their children nor to walk according to the customs”… “What, then, is to be done? They will certainly hear that you have come. “Therefore do this that we tell you. We have four men who are under a vow; take them and purify yourself along with them, and pay their expenses in order that they may shave their heads; and all will know that there is nothing to the things which they have been told about you, but that you yourself also walk orderly, keeping the Law.
Acts 21:20-28: says forsake Moses & circumcise = keeping the Law

If Sabbatarians are right, then they better start also practising circumcision
But we do not “require” this either, as now our hearts are circumcised not the flesh!(Rom 2:28-29 ) We are not under law. (Philip 3:3)

“Paul understood that Moses had prophesied Jesus coming. To “give heed to Jesus” is how you KEEP THE LAW of MOSES! Think of it as the law of Moses’ own self destruct mechanism, it’s power was cancelled. Moses told the Jews to keep his law UNTIL Jesus came. Then they were to ignore the Law of Moses and listen only to Jesus. In that way,  Christian’s who exclusively obey Jesus could be said to be keeping the Law of Moses. This is what Paul means by the following verses:

(Acts 3:22) “Moses said, ‘The Lord God shall raise up for you a prophet like me from your brethren; to Him you shall give heed in everything He says to you. ‘And it shall be that every soul that does not heed that prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.
(Acts 24:14) “But this I admit to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect I do serve the God of our fathers, believing everything that is in accordance with the Law, and that is written in the Prophets; having a hope in God
(Rom 3:31) “Do we then nullify the Law through faith? May it never be! On the contrary, we establish the Law”  (Only through faith in Christ)
(Acts 26:22) “And so, having obtained help from God, I stand to this day testifying both to small and great, stating nothing but what the Prophets and Moses said was going to take place; that the Christ was to suffer, and that by reason of His resurrection from the dead He should be the first to proclaim light both to the Jewish people and gentile.

When Paul says that he “kept the Law”, he was referring to the fact that Moses and the prophets foretold of Christ. and that being a Christian was foretold in the law. In a very real sense it was the Jewish “non-Christians” who refused to heed Jesus, who were in fact REJECTING WHAT MOSES SAID! …. For what the law could not do God did or us!..As God said through Paul.

(Rom 8:3-4) Amp-For God has done what the Law could not do, [its power] being weakened by the flesh [[a]the entire nature of man without the Holy Spirit]. Sending His own Son in the guise of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, [God] condemned sin in the flesh [[b]subdued, overcame, deprived it of its power over all who accept that sacrifice],
4 So that the righteous and just requirement of the Law might be fully met in us who live and move not in the ways of the flesh but in the ways of the Spirit [our lives governed not by the standards and according to the dictates of the flesh, but controlled by the Holy Spirit].”

And says ..
(Gal 3:10-18)Amp-” And all who depend on the Law [who are seeking to be justified by obedience to the Law of rituals] are under a curse and doomed to disappointment and destruction, for it is written in the Scriptures, Cursed (accursed, devoted to destruction, doomed to eternal punishment) be everyone who does not continue to abide (live and remain) by all the precepts and commands written in the Book of the Law and to practice them.
11 Now it is evident that no person is justified (declared righteous and brought into right standing with God) through the Law, for the Scripture says, The man in right standing with God [the just, the righteous] shall live by and out of faith and he who through and by faith is declared righteous and in right standing with God shall live.
12 But the Law does not rest on faith [does not require faith, has nothing to do with faith], for it itself says, He who does them [the things prescribed by the Law] shall live by them [not by faith].
13 Christ purchased our freedom [redeeming us] from the curse (doom) of the Law [and its condemnation] by [Himself] becoming a curse for us, for it is written [in the Scriptures], Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree (is crucified);
14 To the end that through [their receiving] Christ Jesus, the blessing [promised] to Abraham might come upon the Gentiles, so that we through faith might [all] receive [the realization of] the promise of the [Holy] Spirit.
15 To speak in terms of human relations, brethren, [if] even a man makes a last will and testament (a merely human covenant), no one sets it aside or makes it void or adds to it when once it has been drawn up and signed (ratified, confirmed).
16 Now the promises (covenants, agreements) were decreed and made to Abraham and his Seed (his Offspring, his Heir). He [God] does not say, And to seeds (descendants, heirs), as if referring to many persons, but, And to your Seed (your Descendant, your Heir), obviously referring to one individual, Who is [none other than] Christ (the Messiah).
17 This is my argument: The Law, which began 430 years after the covenant [concerning the coming Messiah], does not and cannot annul the covenant previously established (ratified) by God, so as to abolish the promise and make it void.
18 For if the inheritance [of the promise depends on observing] the Law [as these false teachers would like you to believe], it no longer [depends] on the promise; however, God gave it to Abraham [as a free gift solely] by virtue of His promise.”… We are only saved by grace through Faith! And only sanctified by Jesus too ! (1Cor 1:30).. An we cannot be separated from Him or His love (Rom 8:9 ) If I need any old testament proof of not needing to keep Saturday Sabbath. The law book is Leviticus. And as stated so well here I shall quote it. And may “biblically” prove we should worship as Christians on Sunday if I need to be picking a day.

“LEVITICUS 23:5-11 – Look at verse 11: “‘And he shall wave the sheaf before the Lord for you to be accepted; on the day after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.'” The day after the Sabbath is Sunday.

Read on specifically looking at Leviticus 23:15 – “‘You shall also count for yourselves from the day after the sabbath, from the day when you brought in the sheaf of the wave offering; there shall be seven complete sabbaths. You shall count fifty days to the DAY AFTER THE SEVENTH SABBATH; then you shall present a new grain offering to the Lord.'” This is the Feast of Pentecost. It was one of the compulsory feasts of Israel.

Note on the day of Pentecost, a Sunday God’s people were commanded to worship. God says, “On this same day you shall make a proclamation as well; you are to have aholy convocation. You shall do no laborious work. It is to be perpetual statue in all your dwelling places throughout your generations.” Leviticus 23:21.

If you think this is only applying to “ceremonial” days, Leviticus 23 starts out talking about the weekly Sabbath (see Lev. 23:1-4). It is called an appointed time and a holy convocation, along with all the other feast days of Israel. No distinction is made by God between these holy days and the weekly Sabbath. He includes them as being equally holy. This would mean that under the Old Covenant the First Fruits Sunday and the Pentecost Sunday were as holy and sanctified as Saturday.

Jesus by His Spirit (Gal 4:6) continues by “grace” to strengthen us (1Tim 1:14) along with faith and love! And love makes faith work ! (Gal 5:6 ) And God is love!(1John 4:8 )…. And so hopefully may “we” all come to the unity of the faith! (Eph4:3)Amp- “Be eager and strive earnestly to guard and keep the harmony and oneness of [and produced by] the Spirit in the binding power of peace.”

I therefore say “focus” on and believe in, and follow the resurrected Jesus on “this side” of the cross of Christ Jesus. And worship Him on everyday you have breath! And rest “in” the Lord of the Sabbath. (Mat 12:8)which also was said..but said to the “Pharisees” who argued about law… before the sins of mankind nailed to the cross canceling them AND the decrees against us. ( Col 2:14 ) Establishing the New covenant, thus making the Old Testament power against us…disappear. ( Hebrews 8:13 ) … Because the law is not for the righteous. (1Tim 1:9 )..  and “we” as believers are the righteousness of God in Christ. ( 2Cor 5:21 )… I think Paul taught and lived clearly, that no Sabbath keeping is “required.”…But it is a honour to assemble ourselves together, and should not forsake it! ( Heb10:25 ) to worship our Lord and saviour, and to take a rest day to to honour the Lord our God, made possible by His Spirit in us. As we are now the temple of the holy Ghost. (1Cor6:19)… We are the place of worship!

May we all be blessed together in Christ Jesus and what ever day you “chose” to worship Him,…

and may it just be as God desired in Spirit and in Truth. (John 4:24). Amen.                                                                                                                      Let us “clearly” follow the narrow road, and stay in the light… Of Jesus!  Rev. Ernie Harpster

Has the American church abdicated it’s authority granted by God? … Are we Ambassadors for Christ?…Or Not?

Has the American church “abdicated” it’s authority granted it by God? The Definition of abdicated: “means to formally and/or publicly give up a position of power or a responsibility, usually by choice”.

This question came to me as i was noticing a comment on Facebook specific to voting in elections.  And it started me thinking about how the pilgrims came here to America so they could NOT live under the rule of a “unrighteous” King, but they brought their King James Bible with them to practice their beliefs, and live in a new land as Christians to serve the King of Kings of the bible “under God”, for the good of all.  See the “Mayflower Compact” (see reference linked below), as signed by almost all the Pilgrim men of the Mayflower.

I also see as our nation became the Republic of the Untied States it was mostly a nation united in it’s view, and the bible was relied upon as the ultimate guide for authority over man in this country.  (See at bottom for references to read )

I also noticed almost every signer of the declaration of Independence, was also quoted as referencing, or using directly, verses from the Bible; We have even had a president of the Untied Sates, James A. Garfield who was considered an ordained minister of the gospel.

I also see clearly that ALL those men were, “voted” into office and “allowed” by the people to govern them,  that is, the “voters” allowed them the privilege to hold all these positions of government, “by the people for the people,” as Abe Lincoln said, and back then the majority vote of the population of the USA, held those same values of the bible, as these men that “they had voted for” which they all publicly expressed.

Thus the people were using “their” God given right “authority” to vote, to express not their own opinion, but “God’s opinion” as to who should be allowed to rule over them as a “government” which these men together also formed…Prayerfully! (Read references below and what Ben Franklin told them about needing prayer)

I see these “American’s” who voted for those running for office, did not just pray, and say God please do something for us…they prayed, and read their bible and asked God for wisdom to use their “authority” to vote, and then voted, participated as God wanted them to vote for “their” nation.  And I notice they originally started by meeting in a church…” The first representative assembly in English America convened in Jamestown’s church July 30, 1619, with two burgesses from each of Virginia’s twenty-one plantations and corporations. ” (see the references below)  Interesting that many polling places today are still churches.

But most importantly we must  recognize, that it is God Himself who declared every person to be in “subjection” (submission) to governing authorities, and that by God’s authority He granted “us” the right to govern the earth ourselves for Him! As stated in ( Gen1:28 )And that now seems misunderstood by the last generation which has resulted in a church  “today” that acts like they think God does it all, and are “only” reading the words that say God establishes those in governing positions, not thinking about it….. But are you right? Or have you been overlooking the context ? Because we must remember what side of the cross we stand on. On this side God works through His people! (2Cor 6:16 )

Uummm …Well only God promotes and takes down…. right? Psalm 75:7-“But God is the Judge; He puts down one and exalts another.”  But what does God actually say regarding governing? Lets look at a specific verse in Paul’s letter to the Church at Rome, a city where 10-13 years after this letter was believed to be written, began a time of many martyrs, when it became very tough to be a true Christian, especially when the head of the government  “Caesar’ began lighting Christians as torches for his garden!  (See Martyrs reference below)  And still the church grew, even though God had already said this to them and now “us” through the same words God spoke through Paul… And His word did not then, and does not now change. (You can hover cursor over scripture reference to see it yourself.)

Rom 13:1-3Nasb-” ‘Every person’ is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. 2 Therefore whoever… ‘resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God’..; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. 3 For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same; “…..

But what is not lost on me, but seems often forgotten by many, is that “we” must always FIRST realize, this was said in “the context” of “our” standing on “this side” of the cross AFTER the resurrection!  And “absolute authority” is now given to “us” to rule here “on earth” on behalf of God.. Luke 10:19-” Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over ‘all’ the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you.”…

“ALL” power over the enemy is given to “us” here “now” because the devil is the ruler, or “god” of this world “the earth”…2Cor 4:4Nasb- “in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” ….

And so “if” we are in submission to God and His word, then “we” are to rule over and subdue “the earth” to keep satan under OUR feet, for God… through “His authority given us now to use for Him”…. As God commanded “all” man kind before the fall of Adam… Gen 1:28 Nasb-” God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the ‘earth’, and ‘subdue it’; and ‘rule over’ the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves ‘on the earth’ .”  ….

And  “us” who are “reconciled” to the Father are in same relationship as Adam enjoyed “before the fall”… God has now appointed “us” as His Ambassadors to express His opinion, and even given in America, the right to vote on his behalf according to His will and word here. … And God said the government shall rest upon His shoulders( Isaiah 9:6 )

2Cor5:20Nasb-“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.” …

Because as one who is reconciled to God… we are to act that way, and act or “mimic” Him, as “ambassadors” only speaking what their King says to declare, and “only vote” on His behalf according to “His desire” as He communicates to His ambassadors! …His communication is written to us in the Bible. And he also said “imitate” Him as His children. ( Ephesians 5:1 ).

And God gave us the wisdom to use the authority given us  wisely…1Cor 1:30Nasb-” But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to ‘us’ wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption,”  …

And we are to do “act” as directed by His Spirit “in us” empowering us… Gal 4:6Nasb-“Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” … So we are known to be led by the Spirit as children of God. Rom 8:14Nasb- “For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”  (His word is also Spirit too…See John 6:63)

Thus “we” are equipped to do everything stated in his word…2TIm 3:17-“so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” ….

Unfortunately many have said for way to long in the United States… “God will do it”….It is His job we must “only” pray that he moves and he will hear from heaven. …And in doing so have buried their authority given to them, like a talent in a hole in the ground, and thus they have actually “resisted the authority” given them, and by their disobedience themselves “oppose the ordinance of God” (Rom 13:2 above), and by non participation, abdicated their authority, and allowed the ungodly to rule over “us” in the USA,  to create unrighteous laws. Which God allows! Why?

Because all authority in heaven and earth was already given “us” the church, the bride of Christ…too rule with here now, to overcome the devil! To live as overcomers through Christ who is “in us” giving us strength to do all things. (Philippians 4:13)  I noticed Daniel, Nehemiah, Joseph, and King David did not have problem participating in government for God.

This is not the Old Testament we live in, we live on “this side of the cross”, and now God works “through His people” in this current “era of grace”, before the judgement comes…when He will allow His wrath to be known.

And one should read what happens to those who bury their talent=authority given them “to use on His behalf”. (Mat 25:28-30).

Mat 25:28-30Nasb-“Therefore take away the talent from him, and give it to the one who has the ten talents.’

29 “For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away. 30 Throw out the worthless slave into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

Now in the church, it is true… yes only God appoints the office holder in the church, of course in book of Acts, we can also see that they exercised their authority and voted on deacons.  But outside the 5 church offices,( Eph 4:11 ) ALL Christians are appointed as “ambassadors for Christ”. To use our authority granted us, for God’s rule to be seen here and now through us, and for us to live submitted to the governing authority over us, but the one that “God” would desire established here.  Remember Judges were appointed in Israel to help “govern” them for God too.  Read the 7th book of bible it’s the book of  Judges.

And do not forget the word to the church in Rev 3:14 to the Laodicea “church”  …It is presented like the church is on trial for a lack of faithfulness to carry out “their” responsibilities to Jesus, and here Christ is the faithful witness against them.  They are called “luke warm” for being so worldly, for being spiritually useless instead of standing as they should have and could have… but instead were called only worthy of being vomited out.

The word Laodicea means “judgment of the people,”  We must therefore evaluate ourselves now, and see how God may look at us while we can (2Cor 13:5), and then make our goal His word, given us as an example to live out, for others to see as our forefathers did, and be found faithful. (Not perfect but seeking) And lets not compare ourselves to the unbelieving whose example is only by thier father the devil,  the temporary ruler of this world.

We must seek God’s  kingdom first and His righteousness, and not settle for less than what Christ died to obtain for us.  That we might walk and act here as He does there in heaven (1John 4:17 ), as He acts with ALL authority in heaven and earth, we are to also, while living here as His ambassadors, and wielding His authority on His behalf correctly. (rightly dividing the word of Truth 2Tim 2:15) And remember Jesus said the Kingdom of heaven was at hand when He stood here on earth. ( Mark 1:15 )   And He now fills you, and completes you! ( Col 2:10 ) So you can do the work! And keep the nation from forgetting God! ( Psalm 9:17)

Therefore “we” the church should vote and participate in the governing of OUR nation, as only God gave us this freedom (called an American’s rights) as an open door to act for Him, which is a gift we are allowed that many do not enjoy in the world, and those in Rome certainly could not enjoy. …And yes debating of issues is fine,(Paul did from scriptures) God gave us wisdom, but said let all our words be seasoned with grace,( Colossions 4:6) and truth said in love, (Eph4:15) “participating” in the process, as God would desire us too, and only for God, “not self”, and that means only voting for those available, that are the closest aligned with God’s word, and His commands…our Bible!  Not voting for a party, but actually “seeking” to subdue the earth with righteousness”right living and right actions” as “we” are commanded to act for God. (Mat 6:33)

And hopefully by participating as God desires and leads “us” by His Spirit ( Rom 8:14 ) eventually we can raise up politicians “again” who will walk incorruptible, “straight paths” acknowledging God in “all” their ways….  And thereby govern us “all” correctly. (God raised up Nehemiah and God raised up Daniel to places of government positions to restore His nation, and act on behalf of the people. David too!)

Also remembering  that God has said “He” is our provider, so “we” do not vote by the material issues, or in regard to entitlement… For He has promised each of us everything for life and godliness. (2Pet 1:3) …And “we” are to live as though we believe His promises.

Just something to think on because true leadership leads by example, and only follows the voice of the great shepherd. …”follow” can also be interpreted “imitate” or mimic… Which we are to do as well. (Eph 5:1). “Be imitators of God as dearly loved children”…   So are you? Have you used your authority, and voted in elections like your His for the last 20 years??… Or have you buried this God given gift, a “talent” that you are to be a steward of for Him… until He returns. Something to think on.  …Why?

Because a “vote” cast in an election as a Christian, is the use of your “talent” a freedom to serve the Lord with, something given you also is the authority granted by God to choose to make choices for Him for His Kingdom. Which is higher than man’s law. .. Choose light and life, or dark and death? And NOT voting at all, or NOT voting as God would desire you too vote,  is the same as burying it in a hole. Like that man, with a “talent” from His master had done. ( Mat 25:18-30 ) By the way that parable was repeated in Luke ( Luke 19:17 ) you can go read it now if you like, and see what the masters money was exchanged for by the servants who used it correctly .. it is more authority! ( Again just hover cursor over verse reference’s to read them)

I know some will say but God said just humble ourselves and pray for our nation! ( 2Chron7:14 ) .. but He only said 14 because He had to motivate them in ( 2Chron 7:13 ) to use their authority He gave them , and get them to repent and act like their His children! !

So I am only telling you to use what “you have now” wisely, as it may determine where you rule in God’s kingdom latter. ..If at all.  Don’t be found lukewarm in anything;  But be found as a man faithful (1Cor 4:2)…in everything.  Governing and voting too, participating for God to imitate Him as dearly loved children!( Eph5:1 )  Because only God placed your feet in America!

So that we clearly follow the narrow road and stay in the light!  By Rev. Ernie Harpster
